Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Puzzle Folio (“Puzzle Folio,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the Puzzle Folio mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the “Services”).

You may browse free puzzles and play as a guest. Creating an account is optional until you use a feature that requires cloud sync, an account-bound balance, premium content, purchases, or leaderboard participation.

Information we collect

Account and profile information

When you create an account, we collect your email address, username, selected avatar, and country code. Your password is processed by our authentication provider and is not visible to us in plain text. We also store account identifiers and email verification status.

Puzzle activity and progress

We may store favourites, premium category unlocks, difficulty, placed pieces, completion status, elapsed time, hints used, incorrect placements, streaks, replay usage, solved history, Journey progress, points, coins, settings, and related timestamps. This allows games to resume and sync across your devices.

Gallery photos

If you choose a photo or take one for a custom puzzle, the app accesses only the image you select or capture. A local copy is kept on your device. For signed-in users, the image may be compressed—generally below 600 KB where the source permits—and uploaded to account-protected cloud storage so your Gallery puzzle and progress can sync. We do not use Gallery photos to train artificial intelligence models or target advertising.

Device and app information

To protect registration limits, prevent abuse, troubleshoot compatibility, and keep account activity consistent, we collect a one-way hash derived from an Android device identifier or a securely generated installation identifier. We may also collect device manufacturer, model, operating system, and operating system version. We do not collect precise GPS location.

Purchases and coin activity

For in-app purchases, we process product identifiers, transaction identifiers, purchase tokens or signed store data, platform, currency and value information, verification status, and whether a purchase is a test purchase. Apple or Google processes your payment details; Puzzle Folio does not receive your full card or bank account number. We also maintain your coin balance and account-level purchase total for fulfilment, support, security, and fraud prevention.

Rewarded ads

Rewarded ads are optional. When you request one, Google AdMob and its advertising partners may process device identifiers, IP address, general location inferred from IP, ad interactions, and diagnostic information under their own policies and your consent choices. Puzzle Folio receives and verifies reward transaction details, including a transaction identifier, reward amount, user reference, and timestamp, to prevent duplicate rewards and apply daily limits.

Website information

This website does not currently provide account login, behavioural analytics, or advertising. Basic request information such as IP address, browser type, and timestamps may be processed automatically by our domain, hosting, security, or content delivery providers to deliver and protect the site.

How we use information

• Provide, save, restore, and synchronize puzzle progress.
• Create and secure accounts and send transactional emails.
• Display leaderboard rankings and Journey progress.
• Verify purchases, deliver coins, and restore eligible records.
• Verify rewarded-ad completion and enforce reward limits.
• Import guest progress into a new, otherwise empty account.
• Detect fraud, abuse, duplicate rewards, and registration spam.
• Maintain compatibility, reliability, and customer support.
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

Depending on where you live, we rely on performance of our agreement with you, your consent, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Services, and compliance with legal obligations.

How information is shared

We do not sell your personal information. We disclose information only as needed to operate the Services, complete actions you request, protect users, or comply with law.

If you open an external donation or support channel—including Buy Me a Coffee, PayPal, Wise, or Touch ’n Go—that service handles information under its own terms and privacy policy. We may also disclose information to advisers, authorities, or another operator where reasonably necessary for legal compliance, security, or a business transition.

Public leaderboard information

Once a signed-in user completes a scored puzzle, the leaderboard may publicly display their username, chosen avatar, country flag, points, rank, number of scored puzzles, and certain aggregate completion statistics. Your email address, device information, purchase history, coin balance, Gallery photos, and detailed puzzle progress are not displayed on the leaderboard.

Retention and deletion

Guest data remains on the device until it is deleted by you, the app is removed, device storage is cleared, or eligible guest progress is imported into a newly created empty account. Account data is generally retained while your account remains active and as needed to provide the Services.

You can permanently delete your account from Profile → Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account. The deletion process removes the authentication account, account-linked records, and Gallery files controlled by Puzzle Folio. Some transaction, security, fraud-prevention, legal, or backup records may be retained for a limited period where required or permitted by law. Data handled independently by Apple, Google, or another third party remains subject to that provider’s retention rules.

Security and international processing

We use access controls, encrypted network connections, scoped account storage, server-side purchase and ad verification, and hashed identifiers designed to protect information. No service can guarantee absolute security, so please use a unique password and keep your device and account credentials secure.

Our providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we use provider commitments and other lawful mechanisms intended to protect information transferred internationally.

Your choices and rights

• Play as a guest without creating a cloud account.
• Choose whether to add or upload a Gallery photo.
• Choose whether to watch a rewarded ad.
• Manage eligible ad privacy choices through the in-app privacy options or device settings.
• Remove Gallery images and their associated puzzle progress.
• Delete your Puzzle Folio account from the app.
• Contact us to request access, correction, export, restriction, objection, or deletion where applicable.

We may need to verify your identity before completing a privacy request. Your rights vary by location, and lawful exceptions may apply.

Children’s privacy

Puzzle Folio is not directed to children under 13, or a higher minimum age where required by local law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child who cannot legally provide consent. If you believe a child has provided personal information improperly, contact us so we can investigate and delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Puzzle Folio evolves. We will post the revised policy here, change the effective date, and provide additional notice in the app when a change is material and required by law.
