Getting started
Puzzle Folio basics
What is Puzzle Folio?
Puzzle Folio is a jigsaw puzzle app built around a personal collection. Explore curated artwork, save favourites to your Shelf, create puzzles from your own photos in Gallery, resume progress across devices, collect Journeys, and climb the leaderboard at your own pace.
Can I use Puzzle Folio without an account?
Yes. You can browse the public catalogue, favourite free puzzles, and play as a guest. An account is requested when you use account-bound features such as premium categories, purchases, cross-device sync, or leaderboard scoring.
Where do I start my first puzzle?
Open Puzzles, tap the heart on a free image, then move to Shelf → Favourites. Select the image, choose a difficulty, and tap Puzzles… Assemble!.
Which devices does Puzzle Folio support?
Puzzle Folio is designed for supported iPhone, iPad, and Android phones and tablets. Exact compatibility may depend on the operating system version and device capabilities.
Can I play offline?
Ongoing games and locally available images are designed to remain playable offline. New catalogue images, account actions, cloud sync, purchases, rewarded ads, and leaderboard updates need an internet connection. Pending local progress is retained and syncs again when a connection is available.

Gameplay and progress
What difficulty levels are available?
Choose Novice (35 pieces), Apprentice (96), Adept (150), Master (216), or Legend (384). Higher levels offer more intricate boards and larger coin and point rewards when completed.
Does the timer pause when I leave a puzzle?
Yes. Your elapsed time and placed pieces are saved for that specific game. The timer stops when you leave gameplay and continues when you resume it from Ongoing.
How do reference image and edge tools work?
The eye tool lets you adjust the reference image opacity. Edge mode filters the tray to border pieces. Once all edge pieces are complete, Puzzle Folio returns to the full tray automatically.
Can I zoom and move the puzzle board?
Yes. Pinch to zoom and drag to move around the canvas. Puzzle pieces are matched to the board using the current canvas scale, so placement remains accurate while zoomed.
How do hints work?
Every game includes 10 free hints. A hint flies an available piece to its correct position. After the free allowance, each additional hint costs 2 coins. If your balance and remaining pieces allow it, bulk hint options may also appear.
What happens when I complete a puzzle?
The game is saved to Solved, your statistics and Journey progress update, eligible coins and leaderboard points are awarded, and a completion celebration appears. Closing it returns you to the Shelf or Gallery you came from.
Can I replay the same puzzle?
Yes. Each saved puzzle has five replay slots. Starting another game creates a separate Ongoing session and preserves your solved history. Once all five slots are used, 30 coins resets the replay counter.
Make it yours
Gallery and custom photos
Can I turn my own photo into a puzzle?
Yes. Open Gallery → Ongoing, tap the add-photo button, and choose an image from your library or camera. Nothing is added until you choose a difficulty and start the puzzle.
How many Gallery images can I add?
A signed-in Gallery includes four image slots. Guest access is more limited. When the signed-in allowance is full, an in-app coin option can reset the slot allowance.
Are my Gallery photos uploaded?
Guest photos remain local. For signed-in users, selected images can be compressed and stored in account-protected cloud storage so the custom puzzle and its progress can sync between devices. See the Privacy Policy for full details.
What happens when I remove a Gallery image?
Removing an image deletes that photo from your Gallery and deletes its associated puzzle progress. For signed-in users, the corresponding cloud copy is also scheduled for removal. This action should be treated as permanent.
Rewards
Coins, points, and premium puzzles
What is the difference between coins and points?
Coins are an in-app balance used for premium categories, replay resets, Gallery allowances, and paid hints. Points measure scored puzzle completions and determine leaderboard rank; they cannot be spent.
How many coins and points does a completed puzzle award?
| Difficulty | Coins | Points |
|---|---|---|
| Novice | 10 | 100 |
| Apprentice | 30 | 300 |
| Adept | 70 | 500 |
| Master | 100 | 750 |
| Legend | 150 | 1,300 |
Rewards may be subject to account, anti-abuse, or eligibility checks. Puzzle Folio may rebalance rewards in future versions.
How do I unlock a premium category?
Sign in, open the premium category from Puzzles, and choose Unlock. The listed coin price is deducted once, after which every puzzle in that category is available to your account.
Can I buy coins?
Yes. Signed-in users can open the Coin Store from Profile and purchase a package through Apple’s App Store or Google Play. The store confirms the local price and currency before you buy, and Puzzle Folio verifies the transaction before adding coins.
Can I earn coins by watching an ad?
Yes, where rewarded ads are available. Watching an optional ad awards 10 coins after server verification. A maximum of five rewarded ads can be credited within a rolling 24-hour period, with a 60-second cooldown between rewards.
Why did my purchase or ad reward not appear immediately?
Rewards require a connection and server verification. Keep the app open briefly, then refresh your balance. For a purchase, use Restore Purchases in Settings to check eligible pending store records. If the balance still does not update, contact support with the approximate time, platform, and product—never send full payment details.
Across devices
Accounts, sync, and leaderboard
What happens to my guest progress when I register?
Eligible guest progress is imported only when you first sign in to a newly created account that has no existing progress. This avoids overwriting established account records if the same account is later used on another device.
Can I use one account on multiple devices?
Yes. Sign in with the same verified account. Puzzle Folio keeps local progress available and synchronizes account data when online. If two devices change the same game, the newest valid progress is generally used.
What information appears on the leaderboard?
After your first scored completion, the leaderboard can show your username, chosen avatar, country flag, points, rank, scored-puzzle count, and limited aggregate completion statistics. It does not show your email, balance, purchases, device details, or Gallery photos.
I forgot my password. What should I do?
Choose Forgot password? on the sign-in password step and enter your registered email. Open the reset email on a device where Puzzle Folio is installed so the app can securely receive the reset link.
I did not receive my confirmation email.
Check spam or junk folders, confirm the email address is correct, and wait a few minutes. After an unverified sign-in attempt, Puzzle Folio can show a resend option. Repeated requests may be temporarily rate-limited.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Profile → Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account. Confirming permanently removes your Puzzle Folio account, synced progress, and account Gallery files. Review the retention section for details and limited legal exceptions.
